Guest Napper #111- Colorful Crash

As the first day of school careens toward us (or away from us, if your district starts early!) Naps Happen brings you this PSA: art projects are really exhausting, so be sure to catch your ZZZZ’s.

Can you pass the cornflower blue? Katy? Katy? Katy?

My friend Erin sent me this picture of Katy at a restaurant, and I was like “What? I have a nap blog? Why are you sending me this?”

Ohhhhhh. She’s asleep.

Now THAT is balance, folks. No head-nod for this girl. She will be super awesome in those surreptitious post-lunch Algebra naps.

Have I ever mentioned the time I jerked in my sleep and fell half out of my desk in Algebra II? Good times.

Here’s hoping your week isn’t so tiring that you fall asleep at dinner. Onward!

Guest Napper #110 – Tiring Trike

You know how it is when you have one of those great, outdoorsy days and then you sleep like a log in your bed all night, tired out by all that fresh air?

Or, you know, you could just fast forward to sleeping like a log while you’re still on your bike like Ashton, here.

Exercise is one way to combat insomnia.

Here’s to healthy exhaustion…once you actually get home.

Guest Napper #109 – Disastrous Dreams

I know when my husband laughs aloud at a picture we receive, that it’s a good one.

Heather sent me this picture, explaining that she had taken the week off from work to deep clean her house, while her daughter Zoe was at daycare and her husband was at work.

On Saturday, of course, she had to go to the office and catch up on e-mail. Because there’s no such thing as a free deep-cleaning vacation, don’tcha know. So she’s gone for mere hours and returns to find this.

Yup. Looks clean to me.

I am hard-pressed to decide which part of this photo is my favorite. Is it the enthusiastic Elmo, waiting to pounce on the disaster? Or is that her kid fell asleep while holding a wire hanger? Joan Crawford would be steamed!

And how many diapers did the fellow need for one toddler? He was prepared for a complete poopsplosion, by the looks of it.

As for Heather, I think we should pool together and get her a professional cleaning service!

Excuse me – I’m feeling the need to do some cleaning…

Always Use Your Napkin

It’s been awhile since I sorted through my horribly disorganized photos to pull up a nap from one of my own sleeping angels.

This one came up today.

Elevate feet for relaxation.

Cormac takes a lot of naps on the couch these days (the rest are in other unmentionable places – don’t think for a moment that anyone is agreeing to nap in his bed. Puhleeze.)

The couch isn’t always exciting, sadly. But he does manage to crash in unexpected ways.

Use your napkin.

Like with a napkin by his head. Ha ha. Get it? NAPkin. Perhaps its laundry-fresh scent is canceling out the dirty sock he put near his nose.

Toddler feet. Still cute.

Wouldn’t it be nice to just put your feet up today and have a quiet afternoon snooze? Preferably without the Mama-razzi taking pics.

Here’s hoping you can enjoy a relaxing weekend. And don’t forget to use your napkin.
